The members of the Liaison Board met today at the headquarters of the Agrarian Federation (FAA) and called for «social peace,» and also warned that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s government «looks for confrontation,» but they did not announce any strike for the next days.
The heads of the FAA, Eduardo Buzzi; of Coninagro, Carlos Garetto; the Rural Society, Luis Etchevehere; Argentine Rural Confederations, Rubén Ferrero, met at 11 am and signed a document which harshly criticizes the agrarian policies.
The rural leaders warned about the «difficulties» in the barley trade, while the sector awaits the government’s intention over La Rural grounds in Palermo neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, the Liaison Board insisted in the «urgency to generate dialogue and consensus, to build an harmonic environment.»
Earlier today, Buzzi explained that “the national government refuses to talk with us since they consider us as their enemies. In the meantime we all witness how things worsen. Consumers pay high prices, while farmers get broke. This is why the sector feels like going out to protest.”
