Gov’t to apply sanctions on bank clerks over strikes

The government said today that it would slap sanctions on bank clerks involved in the strike today, following their failure to comply with the mandatory conciliation ordered by the Labour Ministry regarding the workers’ wage demands.

The announcement was made by deputy labour minister Noemí Rial, who made it clear that she would use all power possible to ensure that if the workers didn’t comply with the conciliation agreement, they’d be fined, and that the case would be presented before the Judiciary.

“We are inspecting to see whether they comply with the obligatory conciliation, and if they don’t then we will apply all of the sanctions in our reach.”
