The Upper House of Congress unanimously approved the designation of Cecilia Nahón as the Ambassador in the US, along with other 75 ambassadors and diplomatic officials.
In the midst of an extraordinary session, the Senate approved without debate and in a few minutes the designation of the diplomatic officials proposed by the Executive Branch. Besides, it also accepted 163 military upgrades.
The newly designated ambassador to the US had defended her appointment before the Upper House and affirmed that in that country «there are sometimes excuses so as to unable the entrance of some Argentine products,» as she promised to work in order to reduce these barriers.
«There are sectors in the US that are extremely protectionist. Our task is to recognize these barriers and work to make them less restrictive,» Nahón affirmed.
The Upper House also decided that next year’s January 31 will be national holiday.
