Bianchi officially appointed at Boca helm

Carlos Bianchi was officially appointed today as Boca Juniors coach at the La Bombonera stadium.

On what is his third spell with the “Xeneizes”, the coach acknowledged that “Boca demands everything from one. I do understand it and I’m willing to work towards put Boca once again among the best teams of Argentina and the American continent.”

Asked about what made him resume his coaching career after eight years of retirement, the former Vélez Sársfield centre-forward confessed: “To be honest I was about to leave the country and settle overseas. I also had numerous offers from overseas, and Boca was not in my mind.”

But Daniel Angelici [club’s president] called me to have a meeting in which he showed me to have a sincere desire of taking the club back to that exclusive place where it’s always been. And it means focusing on the large picture and not just in getting good football players. If we want to make Boca as successful as in the past, we also need great board members, great fans, great club employees, etc.”

Asked about the possible come back of Juan Román Riquelme, the coach said: “I’m going to talk with him as I know what he is capable of doing for the team. But we all know that he has the last call on this.”
