Several injured after angry mob stages protest outside Tucumán provincial house

Several people were reportedly injured and others were arrested during a protest that took place in front of the Tucumán provincial house in downtown Buenos Aires. An angry mob had gathered in front of it to protest the ruling in the Marita Verón case.

Thirteen suspects were acquitted in a trial investigating the disappearance of 23-year-old Marita Verón, who went missing in April 2002.

Activists in several leftist organizations removed the police fences set up in front of the building and began hurling stones at the police officials who were standing guard outsider of it.

The front windows were shattered and the protestors set the entrance on fire.

Even though the largest protest took place in Buenos Aires, other demonstrations took place in San Miguel de Tucumán, Rosario, Mendoza and Santa Fe.
