A heavy storm hit the City this afternoon, flooding several neighbourhoods. Núñez and Belgrano are two of the most affected areas, with level of water rapidly increasing along Libertador avenue.
Subway lines A, C, H and the tram are not working due to flooding in the railways and line D is not stopping at Scalabrini Ortíz station in Palermo, while rail line Mitre, which runs from Retiro to Tigre, is suspended due to flooding of the railways. The Salguero street underpass in Almagro neighbourhood and the Yatay underpass in Caallito were closed off to traffic.
Likewise, the Illia highway, which connects 9 de Julio Avenue with Cantilo Avenue remains closed-
Flooding was also hitting Greater Buenos Aires areas of Burzaco and San Isidro.
Forecasters renewed this morning the weather warning in place for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Buenos Aires City and Río de la Plata as well as most of the central provinces across the country.
The weather was said to affect today Córdoba province, Entre Ríos, La Pampa, the eastern part of Mendoza, San Luis, the south and central part of Santa Fe and the south of Santiago del Estero.
The National Weather Forecasting Service (SMN) said that isolated storms are to affect the mentioned central provinces of the country, some of them particularly heavy.
Temperatures are set to remain high with a high heat index throughout the day, ranging between 22 and 30 degrees Celsius.
