Subway workers to go on strike tomorrow

Subway workers will strike for three hours tomorrow, after wage talks between Metrovías concessionary company and AGTSyP breakaway union failed earlier today.
Line A will strike from 11 to 2 pm, Line B will strike from 5 to 8 am, Line C will strike between 8 and 11 pm, Line D will strike between 2 and 5 pm, Line E will strike from 5 to 8 pm and Line H will strike from 8 to 11 pm.
Earlier today, Metrovías reached an agreement with UTA subway and bus drivers’ union members which AGTSyP refused to sign, because “not only did it deduct wages from the ten day August strike, but had an additional 1 percent discount on wages for UTA members and did not comply with any of our claims,’ AGTSyP spokesman Enrique Rositto confirmed.
“They (Metrovías) asked us to sign the accord, which was impossible for us to do,” he added.
UTA union is recognized officially by the Labour Ministry, while breakaway union AGTSyP lacks legal recognition
The union is demanding a 28 percent salary increase and between 1.3 and 2 percent adjustment in accordance to seniority, dating back to last March. Even though the subway workers received a fixed $900 pesos sum increase in May and a 23 percent increase in their basic salary in September, the spokesman said “we want an increase, that besides being bigger, incorporates reimbursements.”
