Argentine citizens’ expenses abroad drop 14%

The amount of Argentine tourists that travelled abroad rose 8.5 percent in September, but due to the dollar clamp, their expenses in foreign countries dropped 14 percent, according to the Indec national statistics bureau.

During September, 200,721 Argentine citizens travelled abroad and their total expenses reached 236.8 million dollars, 13.9 percent less than the same month in 2011.

Meanwhile, 190,988 foreign tourists visited the country, dropping 13.3 percent against the same month last year.

The Indec national statistics bureau said that the expense of tourists dropped 25.6 percent, and totalled 218.1 million dollars,

The information is gathered from the arrivals and departures at Ezeiza and Jorge Newbery airports, which are the main routes of access route to Argentina.
