The draw for this weekend’s Davis Cup semifinal between Argentina and the Czech Republic took place this morning in La Boca neighborhood defining Friday’s single matches with Juan Martín del Potro opening against Radek Stepane (N° 40), while Juan Mónaco (11) will face Tomas Berdych (6).
Saturday’s double play will match up hosts’ Carlos Berlocq and Eduardo Schwank against Ivo Minar and Lukas Rosol.
Argentina bid to reach the Cup Final for the second straight year seems a tough mission since key player Del Potro is still struggling with a wrist injury. But despite Del Potro has been told to rest, and fortunately for team’s captain Martín Jaite, the world N° 8 has confirmed his presence on the court.
Argentina is trying to reach its second straight final after losing a year ago at Spain. The Czechs lost the 2009 final against Spain.
Argentina has been in four finals, and lost all four, a record. The Czechs won the title in 1980 as Czechoslovakia.
