Man shot dead when trying to defend son from robbers

A 75-year-old man identified as Juan Bautista González was shot dead this morning after trying to prevent his son from being robbed in the Southern Greater Buenos Aires district of Lanús.

The crime took place around 8:30 am when the victim’s son was pulling out his vehicle from the family’s house garage to take his children to school and was assaulted by two armed robbers.

According to police sources, the victim went to see what was happening and before the scene he tried to wrestle the robbers who shot him in the chest and head.

Witness neighbours were indignated as they informed TV reporters that police took 45 minutes to show up at the crime scene. Likewise, witnesses indicated that the two burglars escaped in a motorbike driven by a woman who was waiting fro them.

Police was searching the area to find the crime’s perpetrators.
