Federal Prosecutor Jorge Di Lello requested today that AFIP tax agency head Ricardo Etchegaray undergoes an investigation for granting a reportedly unprecedented moratorium to the former Ciccone printing company.
Sources said that Prosecutor Di Lello requested the opening of the probe to Federal Judge Ariel Lijo, due to alleged irregularities detected in the terms of the moratorium which enabled Ciccone to lift its bankruptcy stay.
The case was being handled by Federal Judge Sergio Torres and was then added to the main probe handled by Lijo, which investigates Vice-president Amado Boudou’s for his alleged intervention in the former printing company and for embezzlement.
Di Lello requested Judge Lijo to ask for AFIP files regarding the moratorium of the $62.5 million pesos debt Ciccone held with the tax agency. Likewise, Di Lello also requested Lijo to ask for a list of all moratoriums granted in the last few years to analyze their proceedings.
The moratorium was allegedly backed by Etchegaray in October 2010, which enabled Ciccone to lift the bankruptcy stay which it had filed in a trade court. Boudou allegedly backed the process as well and is accused of influence peddling.
The charges against Etchegaray were pressed against lawyer Alejandro Sánchez Kalbermatten.
