Britain´s Queen Elizabeth II during Jubilee celebrations.
Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh closed the national tour for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the Isle of Wight and New Forest in the south of England. This year marks the queen’s 60th year on the throne.
The royals were received at the main ferry port of Cowes on the island after sailing across the Solent on board a yacht, amongst a fleet of sailing boats.
There, the Royal Yacht Squadron gave them a royal welcome with a 21 cannon salute, before thousands of spectators, all waving Union Jacks.
Once on dry land, the queen, aged 85, and her husband were received by the Isle of Wight authorities.
