Interior and Transportation Minister Florencio Randazzo announced an $800 million pesos investment in the Sarmiento train line.
Interior and Transportation Minister Florencio Randazzo announced on Tuesday afternoon that starting on July 30th, and for the next two months, the Sarmiento train line service will be restricted during nighttime and on Sundays in order to conduct repair works.
In a press conference at the Government House, Randazzo explained that starting on Monday the 30th, there will be no train service between the Moreno and Once stations in the Sarmiento line between 10 pm and 4 am, while on Sundays the service will be interrupted between the Liniers and Once stations.
The minister said that these measures will only affect a 5 percent of the passengers using that line on a daily basis and have been put in place in order to improve the service quality.
He said the National Government has invested $800 million pesos in the infrastructure works.
The Sarmiento train line has been the subject of controversy lately, especially after an accident last February in the Once station that left 51 people dead and hundreds of passengers injured.
