Buenos Aires workers begin second day of strike

Teachers, court workers, health and administrative workers in the province of Buenos Aires began today their second day of a 48-hour strike to protest the government’s payment of midyear bonuses in four installments.

This morning Unionists blocked off Pueyrredón Bridge. They also marched to the Provincial Legislature located at La Plata causing traffic chaos in the area.

Unions estimate 98% of the provinces’ teachers have participated on the strike which started yesterday. Today, the National Civil Servant Union (UPCN) joined the strike.

Several roadblocks and protests were carried out across La Plata in addition to different parts of the province yesterday. Protesters blocked off Pueyrredón Bridge, San Juan Avenue at the intersection with 9 de Julio Avenue and the intersection of General Paz motorway with San Martín Avenue.
