The Senate officially cleared the way for the National Government’s request to appoint Alejandra Gils Carbó as Prosecutor General.
The designation will be debated in a public hearing on August 7th, and on August 15th senators will vote the designation for Gils Carbó to replace Esteban Righi, who quit a few months ago following Vice-president Amado Boudou’s accusations of influence peddling.
Gils Carbó’s appointment was suggested by the Fernández de Kirchner administration after former candidate to the office Daniel Reposo withdrew his bid to replace Righi last month.
