Opposing factions within CGT announce separate election date

The division between the three leading factions of the CGT umbrella union became even more evident today as they move forward to hold separate elections.
The leaders of the factions within the CGT umbrella union that oppose Hugo Moyano, today announced that they will hold their own elections separately to the group that supports the union boss.
Therein, on August 23, a Central Committee meeting will be held and general congress on October 3 to decide new faction leaders.
It was predicted that on August 23, Antonio Caló, the head of the UOM metal worker’s union will be put forward to run for election.
The announcement was made by Héctor Daer (health workers union) at the end of a CGT National Secretariat meeting held at the UOCRA central branch, attended by 13 of the 25 members.
Later this afternoon, Moyano is to give a press conference, in which he is expected to reiterate his faction’s stance on the elections, in that they are to continue with the planned congress set for July 12.
