Through a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Argentina has formally reported the United States and Japan before the World Trade Organization for the constant barriers set to Argentina’s meat and lemon exports to the afore mentioned markets.
The statement remarks that Argentina “has set an energetic complaint against the United States, who have been delaying meat export permits to Argentina for many years, plus they refusal to recognize that the Patagonia region is free of livestock foot-and-mouth disease.”
Furthermore, the communiqué assures “Our country has determined that there is no scientific reason for not recognizing Argentina’s health status and sanitary conditions, which is recognized by the World Animal Welfare Organization.”
The US has been limiting and denying Argentina lemon export permits for the past seven years, while Japan has been setting barriers against Argentine packed meat.
