Piumato reiterates meeting ‘not mediatory’ between CGT factions

Tensions prevailed between the factions of the CGT umbrella union at a hearing held by the Labour Ministry, which hoped to bring solutions forward regarding the upcoming elections, but failed.
Head of the Court Employees union Julio Piumato, further criticized the meeting presided over by Labour Minister Carlos Tomada yesterday during a press conference, stating that the hearing “did not provide mediation between the conflicting factions of the CGT” umbrella union.
Members of the CGT gave a press conference today, in order answer Labour Minister Carlos Tomada, who yesterday pointed the finger at Moyano’s faction of the umbrella union, for the failure to resolve conflicts during yesterday’s meeting.
Sharply criticizing the Labour Minister, Piumato said that “being a mediator, some kind of solution to the problem should have been put forward.”
“Yesterday’s hearing was not successful and we urge the other sectors to take part in the congressional gathering on July 12.”
Piumato, an ally of CGT boss Hugo Moyano, was referring to an internal conflict over the elections that are to take place next week.
Today’s press conference was also a response to the Labour Minister’s comments made yesterday following the “mediation” hearing, in which he pointed the finger at Moyano’s faction of the CGT for causing tension between factions in the umbrella union.
“The top of the CGT has a clean conscience” because the election process is taking place in order to replace the authorities at the head of the labour union, furthering that it is the “most transparent election ever taken place in the union’s history,” Piumato furthered.
