Senate committee clears Reposo’s appointment for debate

After a 10-hour public hearing, the Agreements Committee voted in favour of debating the appointment of Daniel Reposo as the new Procurator-General on the Senate floor. While answering questions from the senators, Reposo clashed strongly with members of the opposition.

Kirchnerite senator Miguel Angel Pichetto confirmed that the ruling party managed to obtain nine of the eight necessary signatures in order to send the appointment request to the Senate.

The ruling party hopes to debate his appointment next Tuesday during a special session.

While testifying before the senators, Reposo stated that “during his entire career he has always been objective,” and assured that “he never followed orders that went against the law.”

The public hearing saw its moments of highest tension when Radical senator Ernesto Sanz accused him of “lying again” and threw a document at him that allegedly contradicted what Reposo had stated minutes before.

Reposo showed up to defend himself from the latest case repercussions indicating that he is neither qualified –he graduated from Law School with the minimum scores- nor had the career experienced expressed on his resume as investigations revealed that many of his resume’s passages were not entirely true.

Among the numerous observations made by Senators, there are those including his close relationship with Vice President Amado Boudou, who’s currently facing accusations of embezzlement, and his links to the Victory Front ruling-party.
