The former financial manager of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo organization Sergio Schoklender asked to postpone his testifying before Federal Judge Norberto Oyarbide after he said he had a fever, judicial sources said.
The hearing will continue on a date that is yet to be determined by Oyarbide.
Accused of leading an embezzlement organization, Schoklender enter the courthouse a few minutes before 11 am in order to expand his statement in the case investigating the misusing of public funds that were destined to social housing programmes.
During his statement, Schoklender blamed the organization’s head, Hebe de Bonafini, assuring she was the one making all the decisions within it, adding that once the money entered to organization “it stopped being public.”
Judicial sources explained that it was him who handled the funds, but denied rerouting them for any other projects.
Schoklender has requested to testify before the judge on Wednesday, after having refused to do so two weeks ago
Schoklender was questioned by Oyarbide with his defence lawyer Perla Martínez de Buck present.
Schoklender is accused of having irregularly managed public funds meant for housing plans, money laundering and embezzlement while working for the organization led by Hebe de Bonafini.
