The AFIP tax collection agency announced the use of a new computer tool to gather information from buyers of holiday packages from travel agencies, in another attempt to control savers thirst for greenbacks after the government’s crackdown on access to dollars.
The measure, officially confirmed by way of a decree published in the Official Gazette today, is aimed towards the tightening of controls on foreign currency expending and is part of the recently implemented government policy which its objective is to have more control over the dollar exchange and inflation by avoiding the withdraw of dollars from Argentine banks and the country as well.
According to AFIP, the new tool will demand tourist operators to give out information over the currency used to purchase the package as well as paying methods, amongst other data.
