CFK praises ‘anti-vulture’ message in G20 summit

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner reappeared on social network Twitter, where the head of state wrote a series of messages highlighting the importance of the inclusion in G20 final statement of a passage reflecting Argentina’s fight against holdout investors.

Cristina had been out of the public eye for over two weeks following a spell in hospital to treat a bout of sigmoiditis. After leaving the Otamendi clinic, she was advised to continue her convalescence in the presidential residence located in Olivos, and is yet to return to official duties.

«For the first time in the history of the G20 the issue of debt restructuring has been put into the final statement. Argentina’s case has already proved effective in changing the story of the emission of sovereign debt,» CFK said today via the social network.

The president, however, also included some strong words for US counterpart Barack Obama.

«It seems outrageous, these are the same policies that Argentina has been proposing since the first G20 summit in Washington back in 2008. George Bush was in charge,» she fired.

«The world has changed so little, how sad.»

The head of state concluded her message with praise for the efforts of the Argentine delegation in Australia, headed by Economy minister Axel Kicillof and Foreign minister Héctor Timerman in Cristina’s absence.

«The Argentine delegation returned to the country with the satisfaction of having contributed not only the Argentine experience to the G20 summit, but also openly and clearly condemning the vulture funds’ conduct, something which we believe should be taken up politically by the leaders of those countries,» she explained.
