One of the CGT union leaders calling for today’s walkout Luis Barrionuevo has rejected government accusations that the strike was “political.” “None of us is a candidate,” he said.
In statements to media this morning, the also head of the Uthgra gastronomic workers union responded to Kirchnerite figures who have connected Thursday’s general strike with opposition leader Sergio Massa and his presidential hopes for 2015.
There are no “Massa for Presidet” slogans, Barrionuevo – whose wife Graciela Camaño has renewed her parliamentary seat under Sergio Massa’ Renewal Front ballot -, said.
“I am supporting no candidacy,” he insisted and ratified inflation as one of the unions’ main protest slogans.
“Inflation kills, there are people who have nothing to eat. Bus drivers are the most affected by inflation,” the CGT labour confederation leader stated and warned he did not support the pickets that leftist groups were setting today, blocking main road access to Buenos Aires City.
